Before you head out

Kingon publish a battery life figure for every flow setting, from around 6 hours at setting 1 down to roughly 1 hour 24 minutes at setting 7. Find your setting, read across, and you know before you walk out the door whether the trip fits on a charge.
Two batteries come with the unit and change over in seconds, so in practice you have close to double the figure you need. Both recharge in under 4 hours from either power supply.
Battery life shifts with your breathing rate, the age of the rechargeable battery and the temperature. Allow some margin on long outings and flights, and carry backup power.
Battery, car and mains

A backup oxygen supply is worth having for power outages or faults. Your clinician should confirm that pulse delivery and your prescribed setting suit the trip, including at altitude.
Reading the screen

The 2.8 inch colour LCD shows the flow setting large and the battery level beside it, so you can check both from across the room. At seven settings, being able to read the number at a glance matters more than it does on a five setting machine.
Alarms for low battery, low oxygen purity and no breath detected can be muted, and they stay on screen once they are. If a carer is helping you manage your oxygen therapy, they can still see what the device is telling you from across the room.

Flow settings are not litres per minute. Setting 2 does not mean 2 L/min. Your oxygen levels should be checked with an oximeter across different activity levels so your clinician can confirm the right setting for you.
Pulse dose devices are not recommended for use while sleeping, as they may not detect shallow breathing. This device is not intended to be life supporting. Oxygen therapy should only be used as prescribed by a physician or healthcare professional.
It comes down to your prescription and where you expect it to go. Settings 6 and 7 are the reason to pay more for the P2-E7, so if your clinician has you at setting 3 and does not expect that to change, the five setting Kingon P2-E does the same job for less. Both Kingon portable oxygen concentrators share the same 1.98 kg body, the same 37 dB(A) rating and the same oxygen purity, so the flow range is the only thing you are paying the difference for. No. The P2-E7 uses pulse, or triggered, delivery, releasing a measured dose of oxygen when it senses the start of a breath, across settings 1 to 7. If your prescription calls for continuous flow, you need a device that can deliver it: the Eclipse 5 gives 0.5 to 3 LPM continuous flow alongside pulse dose, and the Zen-O runs both modes with up to 2 litres per minute. Both are portable rather than stationary, so you do not have to give up mobility to get continuous flow. Your clinician can confirm which mode your prescription calls for.
The manufacturer states that the device conforms to all applicable FAA requirements for carriage and use on board aircraft. Australian airlines then run their own process on top of that. Qantas keeps a list of accepted medical devices and needs an approved Travel Clearance Form submitted at least five days before you fly, and you can be refused boarding without it. Yes. A DC power supply is included for a standard 12V vehicle outlet. Take the AC supply with you as well so you can recharge once you arrive.
The battery recharges while it sits in the device, connected to the AC supply, and a full charge takes no more than 4 hours. If you are planning to run the unit from mains or car power for a long stretch, give us a call first on 1300 881 824 and we will confirm the arrangement for your unit.

No. Pulse delivery relies on the device sensing your breath through a nasal cannula, and a mask breaks that trigger. The P2-E7 is designed to be used with a standard single lumen nasal cannula, which is also what keeps the oxygen dose accurate at higher settings.
Yes. Supplemental oxygen is a prescription treatment in Australia, so you will need a valid prescription from your treating clinician. Speak with your doctor or respiratory specialist first and have them confirm both that pulse delivery suits you and which flow setting to use. Kingon cover the device for three years as standard and add two more at no cost if you register the device within 14 days of purchase, which takes it to five years in total. The battery and the oxygen sieve are covered for 12 months each. Registration applies to new units only, the manufacturer warranty is not transferable, and it covers defects rather than accidental damage, misuse or transit damage.
Not much. The hard plastic mesh filter lifts out and washes in mild detergent and water, and the cotton air filters are swapped when they look dirty, with five spares in the box. The oxygen sieve bed is replaced every 12 to 18 months depending on how much you use it, and the screen tells you when it is due. It keeps going. If no breath is sensed through the cannula, the P2-E7 pulses oxygen roughly once every three seconds, and picks your breathing back up as soon as it detects it.
A cylinder holds a fixed volume of oxygen and runs out, so the week gets planned around refills and deliveries. A concentrator draws in the air around you, strips out the nitrogen and delivers oxygen at therapeutic purity, so it only stops when the power does. There is nothing to refill and nothing to return. Pulse delivery also means oxygen is only released when you breathe in, rather than running continuously and being lost while you exhale, which is how a device this size can replace equipment you would otherwise wheel.

TRAVELING WITH A OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR
The FAA allows these devices on board most aircrafts. If they have a FAA approval, they should allow the oxygen concentrator on board with the supply of the MSDS document.
IMPORTANT:It is the responsibility of the patient to check with the specific airline carrier when traveling domestically and internationally. We strongly advise to check the airline website or contact them directly around what they specifically require to allow you to travel onboard with this device to avoid any issues or delays in your travel.
Just because a oxygen concentrator is FAA approved, does not automatically mean a customer will be allowed to take the machine on the plane. It is up to the discretion of every flight, airline, airline pilot etc if the machines or batteries are allowed to be carried on board.
When traveling with the device, be sure to bring the AC Power Supply and the External Battery Charger (if you have one) with you. It is advisable to use external power (i.e., plugged into a wall) whenever it is available to keep the battery fully charged. Bring enough charged batteries with you to power your concentrator for no less than 150% of the expected duration of your flight, ground time before and after the flight, security screenings, connections and a conservative estimate for unanticipated delays. Note that per FAA regulations, all extra batteries are to be individually wrapped and protected to prevent short circuits and carried in carry-on baggage onboard aircraft only. The AC Power Supply cannot be used to charge the device battery when onboard aircraft. If traveling by bus, train or boat, contact your carrier to find out about power port availability.
